CAPTURING THE MOMENT

Went to go shoot some photos for Francesca’s single Paper Hearts for her iTunes debut. Hopefully out of the 235 photos, there is one that will do the job. Either that or there will be a lot for her myspace profile. More photos to come….

CALIFORNIA ACADEMY OF SCIENCE UNOFFICIAL OPENING

When I tell you this, you must understand that I am telling the truth. Shit is crazy sometimes. One minute I am drinking two tall cans at the park skating flat (relieving stress from bullshit!) and the next thing you know I am crashing the opening party for the California Academy of Science which was meant for only staff and associates alike (check the site, 16 days till opening). Don’t even ask me how this happened. It was one of those “the bright light showed the way” when I was fumbling my way around Golden Gate Park in the dark on my board. The shit bugged me out yo! I wasn’t really prepared to see all these exotic animals (tad buzzed) and since I had my gear from the Tommy Guerrero concert, it was a great chance to capture some wildlife in the city. So in a way, these are some exclusive photos that you won’t see till the official grand opening. And whoever said environmentalist don’t know how to party is wrong. Not only did they have bottomless wine (yes I got to drink more for free), but they had some great food, a dope cover band, and even a candy bar. Even the females looked on point! What a retarded night….

GET DOWN TO THE WAY OUT SOUNDS

Passing the time. Ask yourself if you have ever felt the grand sensation of a bent boner. A morning wood cocked 90 degrees in a direction that rivals the those damn Tron bikes when they were skeet-skeet-skeeting all over the floor. Why the hell was that yesterday’s quintet when eating with a couple of friends at work? Conversations run sporadic when all you have is numbers in your head and that last thing that squeezes out is some outlandish thoughts of “L” shaped dicks, penises bent like boomerangs, ant-eater nose’s scratching their heads (that’s if you have a wang that looks like its wrapped in some tube socks). This ties in with absolutely nothing….but it fed me the idea that I needed to get out on a Tuesday. Killing two birds with one stone makes perfect sense and decided to eat in O-Town with Miss Chiquita-Margarita before heading to free Tommy Guerrero concert at the Uptown.

I think I have shot enough photos to figure what my pros and cons are and what I need to excel in to further extend this creative outlet of photography. Plain and simple….I suck at flash photography. It was virtually impossible to shoot with no flash at this venue. The place was darker then the pits of dirty bootie holes and though there are some glam in flashing some lights down a red carpet, it gives no real mood in any pictures….but of course as the geeks would say, that imo. As far as the music, it was all out jam fest with covers of old classics from Archie Bell followed by Tommy Guerrero’s signature songs of albums in the past. I was pretty surprised in Tommy’s crowd following in being mostly Asian and more specific, Japanese skate runts. All those fuckers had DSLRs but when I would go take a piss and look in the mirror with my Canon strap lacing my neck, I realized I was one of those homos….well, at least half of me. Good vibes man….good vibes.

CATCHING UP

I owe it to myself to take time out from my life to visit a friend that I was truly blessed to meet from a audacious job that I had once had. I think it has been almost 8 months since the last time I had saw her. Dina is truly one of my greatest friends in this world and it doesn’t have to do with the fact that she has big fake boobs and a booty as big as a tumor stacked on top of another tumor to create an ultra tumor….like some USDA prime meat type stuff word to Jeezy mane! (and I can seriously say these things without her left hooking my dome like she does to all of the other men that gawk at her cause we are tight like virgin butt cheeks. Truth be told though….don’t fuck with Nicoyas or they’ll hand your ass over to you on a silver platter with a side of knuckle sandwich….especially the women). Crossed over to some unhabited areas in Concord and just chilled in her town house, talking and shooting the breeze. No crazy shit, no alcohol, (and no AC!) but just thinking how in only a matter of two years how our lives have transformed into something totally different. Just hours upon hours upon hours of talking, till it was time for me to head back to the city and realize I have to do something better in my next couple of years. My drive home at 2:45 in the morning was a refreshing one. Fall nights in the city are awesome.

ROCK THE BELLS 2008
August 17, 2008, 1:58 pm

I don’t know….I just don’t think the West Coast understands hip-hop music like how the East would. I think I read someone’s testimony from the Bay on how he remembered the days when Dipset ruled the world back when he was in high school. The statement alone wanted me to spit on my computer and choke the living shit out of him. But I guess you can’t blame a young buck like that. Rap music is at the bottom of the toilet and what is considered hip-hop today is just a forecast of what this music will get to in the next ten years. Enter Rock The Bells 2008 at the Shoreline in Mountain View. I don’t think no one in the crowd really understood what was in front of them. These were all the premier artists of our (my) time from Wu-Tang to De La Soul to Redman and to the almighty MC himself….Rakim Allah. I walked around and found people asleep on the grass while Mos Def was performing Miss Fat Booty. Like for real?! No for real! Jesus….

Street wear was in full effect as usual. Seems like this stuff goes hand in hand considering music is almost a reflection of the streets or the ghetto but I hardly think it consists of rainbow colors and foo-foo ass fonts. Considering though, this is as real as you can get. A lot of start up companies trying to earn their ends with self promoting and just word mouth, something I respect more now then ever. Also later on, some guy almost OD’d on liqs or weed. He ended up pissing in his pants and just spazzing out in the grass. It was pretty intense but the staff ended up taking him away on a stretcher and probably throwing him in the slammer for drug abuse.

Highlight of my night was seeing my all time favorite group (A Tribe Called mutha-fucking Quest!) perform live once again. God I miss the days where slow dancing kissing was the next best thing to sex at a house party! Gotta love the early 90’s. Tribe did all they could do within a hour and half set but I would have liked to hear Hot Sex and Sucka Nigga. But a venue like this has its disadvantages with all these great acts. First off, each performance was no more then an hour long excluding Tribe which headlined the event. Second, the amphitheater was just too big. Hip-hop is not rock and I don’t think it can get all people hyped to the point where girls are taking out their tits and dudes are rockin’ out wit their cock out. An intimate concert would be more fitting for me in the long run. Rock The Bells is/was cool and for $50, I can’t get mad at that price at all (minus the $11 beers and not allowing me to take in my DSLR!). Oh, all these photos are iPhone photos with mad photoshop touch ups. I did what I could.

Some new work by Chilean artist Basko Vazko, Marco Zamora and Jesse Reno at FIFTY24SF gallery next to Upperplayground San Francisco.

Epic Sam Flores painting lurking in the shadows above. I would say one of his most significant pieces to date and it is just some decor in a closet.

Well, the total was only like that for one day. Went back to HUF just to see if I could get a size exchange and ended up buying another pair of DQMs and anther pair of P-Rods since they were half off. Holy shit….what the fuck is going on….
